Anyone had a valuation done in Houston?


Should you have your home in Texas appraised before you sell? What elements determine your home's worth? When the offer is signed and good faith money is paid, whose side is the appraiser on? Do they appraise the home for what the lenders want to hear?

I need to sell my home and adjoining land quickly but obviously want to get the best price I can for it. I used to follow the property prices pretty closely in Houston but things are so unstable at the moment its impossible to make even an educated guess!

I think I'll need some help to determine the selling price but I usually do everything myself so have never used an appraisal service before. Does anyone have opinions of Texas Valuations or do you know of any others?
